POLICY REGARDING COACHING EDUCATION REQUIREMENT

The District mandate regarding coaching education states that coaches have one year from the time they begin coaching with the District to fulfill the requirement by taking the course and passing the written tests.

  • Three classes are offered throughout the school year.

  • The class is offered by LAUSD and there is no fee charged to the coach the first time the class is taken by a coach.

  • Any coach who fails to complete the requirement in the prescribed time will not be allowed to coach the following year until he/she completes the requirement.

  • A paid coach will not be allowed to coach as a volunteer while waiting to take the class.

  • A paid coach may opt to become a volunteer for the entire season with no pay.


Coaching Education Class for Fall & New Coaches
The Coaching Education Class for the fall coaching season has been scheduled for Saturday, May 24, 2008 at Marshall High School and. Applications can be obtained on the home pageclick here for application.

Classes start with registration at 7:30 am. and begin promptly at 8:00--coaches arriving late will not be allowed in. Returning coaches who have not previously taken the workshop, or have taken the workshop but did not complete the requirements, MUST attend this class. Coaches who are re-taking the workshop will have to pay $175.00 (CASH only) to re-take the course. New coaches who wish to take this class will be accepted if there is room on a first come, first served basis.NOTE: Any returning coach who fails to take this workshop will be removed from their coaching position if this is their second season in the sport.


COMPLETION REQUIREMENTS

  • Once a class has been taken, coaches have six months to take and pass the required tests.
  • After you have passed the tests, please fax a copy of your ASEP completion certificate to the Athletic Office, (213) 207-2209.

Beginning December 31, 2008, all volunteer coaches in the CIF - Los Angeles City Section will have one season to complete the coaching education class.
