CIF Model Coach Award Recipients

Long time tennis coach at Monroe High School, Matt Oliphant and New Designs Charter baseball coach Mike Milstead have been selected by the State CIF as recipients of the CIF Model Coach Award. This is an annual award presented to coaches throughout the State of California who meet the CIF criteria and have been recommended by their school principal. A model coach must have demonstrated and taught the six core ethical values: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and good citizenship (the “Six Pillars of Character”). The highest potential of sports is achieved when coaches consciously Teach, Enforce, Advocate and Model (T.E.A.M.) these values are committed to the ideal of Pursuing Victory with Honor. This year the State CIF has selected 11 coaches to receive this award, representing the 10 Sections in the State of California. We congratulate Coach Oliphant and Coach Milstead, we honor them as models and examples of coaches that have placed students first by requiring the highest standards of ethical values and demonstrating a willingness to model these values.

Award ceremonies are being organized at their schools to present the award during a school assembly presentation.
