Subject: 2011 USL Girl's Lacrosse Rules
Below please find Thom Simmons from CIF Southern
Section's response regarding the 2011 USL Girl's lacrosse Rules changes
Not only is this OK this is a wonderful message and one this
organization is 100% behind. Although the rule is in conflict with the Bluebook
our rules allow a school, league and/or sport to be more restrictive than what
is posted... just not less.
I only wish more sports were with you guys on
Thanks for the heads up and many thanks!
I wanted to let you know, and
make our Southern Section aware of the change in the suspension policy in
the USL Women's Lacrosse Rule Book which, according to Article 2202 of the
CIF Southern Section Blue Book, are the rules under which Girl's
Lacrosse is played.
2011 USL Women's Lacrosse Rule Book
rule change: Under Rule 7 Penalty Administration, Section 27, Misconduct and
Suspension states: "...Anyone receiving a red card will be suspended from
further participation in that game and will be prohibited from participating in
the team's next two contests.
This is in conflict
with article #2215 in The CIF Southern Section Blue Book which states:
"Any player who is ejected for any reason shall be disqualified from
participating in the remainder of the game and will be ineligible for the
team's next contest."
Rule 7-27 has also
changed the suspension policy regarding a player who recieves two yellow cards
in the same game. In the past this player was suspended from further
participation in that game only. The USL Women's Rule Book now require a
one game suspension as well: "Anyone receiving two yellow cards in the
game will be suspended from futher participation in that game and will be
prohibited from participating in the team's next game."
would appreciate it if you would let me know if CIF Southern Section is
aware of these changes, as well as any and all decisions or actions
